For this assignment, I focused on capturing a headshot of my daughter—a close-up that would really showcase her personality. I kept things simple, knowing the focus would be entirely on her face, her expression, and her energy. We set up the shot by a large window where the natural light softly wrapped around her features. It created just enough contrast to add depth without being harsh.
As I framed the shot, I paid close attention to her posture and expression. I wanted a look that felt authentic and effortless, so I chatted with her to keep the mood light and natural. It was all about waiting for that moment when her eyes lit up and her smile wasn’t posed—it was just her.
In the retouching process, I aimed for subtle adjustments to elevate the photo while keeping its natural quality intact. I softened the shadows slightly and fine-tuned the highlights to bring out the glow in her skin. Enhancing the clarity of her eyes added a touch of magic, drawing attention to the emotion in the image. Beyond that, I kept editing minimal, as the beauty of a headshot lies in its simplicity.
When I looked at the final image, I felt like it truly captured her essence—her strength, her warmth, and the little spark that makes her unique. This headshot turned out to be more than just a photo; it became a reflection of her story in that moment.
